Advancing Opportunity and Inclusion for People Experiencing Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities
We are excited to announce the Kuni Foundation’s 2024 Transformation Grants cycle.
The lack of quality, affordable housing options for adults who experience intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) has reached a crisis in the United States. The Transformation Grants Program reflects our commitment to investing in person-focused housing solutions for individuals who experience IDD. The program also provides funding for the exploration of new, inclusive, and community-baed approaches that are affordable, scalable, and sustainable.
Funding range: Up to $300,000 per year
Maximum funding request: $900,000 over a three-year period
One-year grants or multi-year grants up to three years
Transformation Grants for Research Focused on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities: Advancing Innovation
We’re excited to announce a new addition to our Grants Program focused on advancing innovation in the field of intellectual and developmental disability research.
The number of American children diagnosed with a developmental disability continues to increase, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and more than one in 10 children have an intellectual disability, autism spectrum disorder, or another developmental delay.
The need for earlier diagnosis and impactful therapies persists, and longstanding socio-economic and political conditions produce obstacles for people with IDD to receive equitable, appropriate, and effective physical and mental health cre, further contributing to poor outcomes.
While the exploration and advancement of therapies and treatments is a key component of this program, we also invite efforts that remove barriers to care, prioritizing equitable and informed access to IDD screenings, diagnosis and therapies.
These are one or two-year grants with a maximum of up to $150,000 per year or $300,000 over two years.
2024 Transformation Grant for IDD Research Priorities:
- Research that leads to new therapies or improves current therapies
- Efforts that improve early detection
- Autism spectrum disorder research
- Efforts that advance health care equity by reducing disparities in access to screenings, diagnosis and therapies for people with IDD
